Good News for the Future of Journalism

extremethinker_huffingtonWhat’s better than seeing Tiger Woods come back from five strokes on a Sunday to win his first tournament since having his knee repaired? How about learning the journalism industry isn’t all the way in the doldrums?

The Huffington Post — the Internet’s foremost news blog founded by Arianna Huffington — has announced it will start an investigative journalism initiative, adding a component to the Web site that’s been largely overlooked by New Media due to budget constraints.

This prioritization of investigative journalism is unfounded in an era where every news outlets of all mediums are cutting staff and budgets to make ends meet. Investigative journalism can be expensive. This is a great sign if we expect our media to maintain their “watchdog” role.
